Within These Pages is a team effort by New Zealand trained primary educators known as the Kiwi Literacy Group
founded by the chief program director, Jan Wells, an elementary school teacher with 26 years experience.  Mrs. Wells holds a diploma of Teaching and Learning and a Batchelor of Education degree. Jan has taught in Canada, the United States and her native country of New Zealand. The majority of her teaching has been in grades 2-6 in a regular classroom, but over the years she has worked successfully with special needs children who had been integrated into her learning environment. Most of her teaching has been in large over-crowded classrooms of 35+ students. Therefore when she made the transition from teaching in the public school system to producing home school curriculum, she knew that her method of teaching, while being successful in  large groups, would be even more successful when used in a smaller setting.


The Unit Studies that have been produced by the Kiwi Literacy Group are based on actual lessons and unit plans Jan and her team have used successfully with children during hands-on classroom instruction. A strong knowledge of curriculum, combined with a wide array of teaching experiences, allows the team to design lessons that integrate several skill areas simultaneously. The awareness of students' levels and interests supports the delivery of differentiated instruction.

Jan Wells believes that a child's strengths and natural abilities need to be the foundation of learning.  Your child will learn as an individual, and their natural strengths and interests will be developed through these units.
